Understanding abortion, contraception and birth as acts of resistance.

This class will explore the post-Dobbs increase in abortions and whether facilitating or having an “illegal” abortion both before Roe and after Dobbs can or should be understood as a form of mass non-violent civil disobedience.

How can the power of microaffections help us cope with adversity and effect change?

We begin each class with an exploration of textual sources in the weekly Torah portion.

We then discuss how to apply these principles to our lives, particularly in times of adversity.

This weekly Talmud interactive study begins with the First Chapter of Bava Batra (“The Last Gate”), the third tractate in Seder Nezikin on civil law. Explore timely topics: neighborly relations, property ownership, deeds, sales, and inheritance. Rooted in rabbinic ordinances rather than biblical sources, these teachings reflect the sages’ insights into human nature and business needs. Sessions are recorded.
